Evening Primrose Flower

I hand make the flowers around nichrome wire- the porcelain shrinks in the kiln creating an incredibly strong join. No glue!

Yellow pigments are mixed into the porcelain to achieve the petals colour and a green underglaze painted at the flower base.

Each flower is made by me in my studio in Lancashire. Each flower is different from the last.

The nichrome wire can be manipulated to hold the shape you desire.

Flower Stem Wire

The nichrome wire discolours during the firing process giving a lovely dark colour, rather than the shiny silver finish before firing.

The wire is 1mm in diameter and approx. 15cm long.

You can cut the wire to the size of your liking using jewellery wire cutters.

The wire can be manipuled to position your flowers as desired and is incredibly durable.

Please note each flower is made individually and all will look slightly different, there will also be slight colour variations. This is also the case for the vases and is the beauty of buying handmade.
UK Delivery

Standard tracked UK postage is £4.99 for all orders up to 1.5KG in weight, £5.99 from 1.5-2.5KG and £9.99 from 2.5KG. Orders that are in stock are typically dispatched within 2 to 4 working days, via the Royal Mail Tracked24 service. Items that are listed as ‘made to order’ or ‘pre-order’ can typically take 2 to 8 weeks to be made and shipped. Timings may be delayed due to high demand if ordering after the airing of the BBC 1 Make It at Market show Pip (Philippa Whiteside Ceramics) stars in, broadcasted on 6th March 2025 and 13th November 2025 . In this case, intermittent emails will be sent to update on an estimated despatch date and all efforts will be made to make and dispatch orders in a timely manor.

Orders over £150 will be upgraded to Royal Mail Special Delivery.

European Union (EU), including Northern Ireland (NI)

In accordance with the new, as of 13th December 2024, EU Regulation on General Product Safety 2023/988 (‘GPSR’) legislation, Philippa Whiteside Ceramics does not ship to the EU or NI. For products regulated by GPSR to be placed on the EU market, there must be an EU based responsible economic operator in place to ensure compliance tasks are fulfilled. Philippa Whiteside Ceramics is a Sole Trader and is not big enough to justify having an EU representative to comply with the new GPSR. As such, no products can be sold and shipped to the EU and NI.

International Delivery

All international orders are sent by the Royal Mail International Tracked Service. Philippa Whiteside Ceramics currently offers shipping to Australia, USA and Canada territories, please contact philippa.whiteside@gmail.com for enquires to ship elsewhere. Please note, TAX is not added to orders and, depending on the country, you may be required to pay import taxes/ custom charges on orders.
